Dusted

Dusted is the solo-turned-collaborative project of Canadian musician Brian Borcherdt, best known as a founding member of the electronic outfit Holy Fuck. Formed in 2012 as a creative pivot, Dusted represents a departure from the rhythmic intensity of his primary band, focusing instead on melodic songwriting, lo-fi aesthetics, and slowcore-adjacent arrangements.

The project's debut, Total Dust (2012), was recorded in a converted garage with producer Leon Taheny, establishing a signature sound characterized by 'cavernous' production, tape hiss, and submerged vocals reminiscent of The Microphones or early Velvet Underground. Borcherdt's songwriting often explores existential themes and internal landscapes, delivered through a breathy, intimate vocal style. While categorized as indie rock, the project's heavy use of atmosphere and texture has led to frequent associations with ambient and downtempo circles.
