Guyanese-British artist Eddy Grant is a singer, songwriter, and producer recognized for blending pop and reggae. After co-founding the pioneering multiracial group the Equals, he launched a successful solo career featuring hits like "I Don't Wanna Dance" and the platinum-certified "Electric Avenue." Grant, who created the ringbang genre, is also known for his socially conscious songwriting, including the anti-apartheid track "Gimme Hope Jo'anna." He currently lives in Barbados.
