Eldritch

Formed in Tuscany in 1991, Eldritch is a cornerstone of the Italian progressive metal scene, though they have consistently defied the regional stereotypes of symphonic or operatic metal. Their early career, particularly the landmark album 'El Niño' (1998), established them as masters of technical composition, blending Fates Warning-style complexity with a harder thrash edge.

As the 2000s progressed, the band underwent a significant stylistic shift with albums like 'Reverse', incorporating more modern, almost industrial-metal elements and darker lyrical themes focusing on psychology and existential dread. This evolution alienated some purists but earned them a dedicated following among fans of 'dark' progressive metal.
