Željko Bebek is a foundational figure in the 'Sarajevo school' of rock, most famous as the original frontman for Bijelo Dugme (1974-1984). During this tenure, he helped define the 'Pastirski rok' (shepherd's rock) aesthetic, which fused hard rock with Balkan folk motifs.
His departure led to a prolific solo career where he pivoted toward a more commercial folk-pop and adult contemporary sound, though he never lost the rock edge provided by his unique vocal timbre.
