Entwine

Entwine emerged from Lahti, Finland, during the peak of the Finnish gothic metal explosion. Originally formed as a death metal act called Kaamos, they pivoted toward a melodic, atmospheric sound that prioritized emotional resonance over technical brutality.

Their career is defined by the transition from the keyboard-heavy, romantic gothic metal of 'The Treasures Within Hearts' to the more aggressive, riff-driven alternative metal seen on 'Fatal Design' and 'Chaotic Nation'. A pivotal moment was the arrival of vocalist Mika Tauriainen, whose distinctive breathy delivery became the band's sonic signature. They were central to the 'Love Metal' era, sharing a scene with bands like HIM and Charon, but maintained a heavier, more traditional metal edge. Critically, they are respected for their consistency and high production standards, often recorded at the famous Finnvox Studios. Though they disbanded in 2019, they remain a cornerstone of the Finnish melancholic metal canon, influencing the 'sad but heavy' aesthetic of the 2000s.
