EOTO

Heavy, improvised electronic music with the raw muscle of live drums. A high-wire act of real-time looping and gritty bass for late nights and festival fields.

Intro

EOTO sounds like the precise moment a jam band gets sucked into a supercomputer. It is thick, kinetic, and unapologetically heavy, anchored by the kind of rhythmic complexity that only two master percussionists could conjure. The music breathes with a human pulse but speaks in the language of oscillating filters, distorted low-end, and glitchy textures that feel like they are being assembled and disassembled right in front of you.

What truly sets them apart is the 'no pre-recorded tracks' philosophy. While most electronic acts rely on a grid, EOTO operates on instinct. They bridge the gap between the organic spontaneity of a jazz trio and the floor-shaking impact of a dubstep producer. You can hear the physical effort in the drum fills and the real-time decisions in how a synth line suddenly morphs into a jagged lead, creating a tension that is rare in digital music.

If you are new to their sound, 'Fire the Lazers!' offers a polished entry point into their studio-captured energy. However, to truly understand the project, you should seek out their live recordings from the early 2010s. That is where the improvisation reaches its peak, moving through dark trip-hop valleys into explosive, high-energy peaks that define the 'livetronica' experience.

EOTO ( EE-oh-toh) was an electronic band consisting of Michael Travis and Jason Hann. On July 22, 2021 the band announced via social media that they would no longer be performing, due to irreconcilable creative differences. The post indicated that the decision did not impact The String Cheese Incident, which they both play in.
