Dusty, overcast boom bap with a signature slow-motion flow. Contemplative hip-hop that feels like a rainy day in Los Angeles. Perfect for solo late-night listening.

Intro

Evidence creates music that feels like a physical manifestation of a grey sky. His sound is rooted in the classic boom bap tradition, but it is filtered through a lens of persistent melancholy and deliberate pacing. The drums are heavy and snapping, yet the samples often feel submerged or distant, creating a sense of atmospheric depth that is rare in traditional rap. It is the sound of a city at rest, focusing on the textures of the concrete rather than the neon lights.

What truly sets him apart is his 'Weatherman' persona and his distinctively slow, deadpan delivery. He never rushes a bar, allowing each syllable to land with rhythmic weight. This unhurried approach creates a hypnotic effect, drawing the listener into his internal world of self-reflection and observation. His production, often characterized by dusty soul loops and crisp percussion, provides a warm analog foundation that feels both nostalgic and timeless.

For those new to his catalog, 'Cats & Dogs' is the essential starting point. It perfectly captures his transition into a more atmospheric, introspective style while maintaining the gritty edge of his Venice roots. It is an album that rewards close listening, revealing layers of subtle sound design and honest, unvarnished lyricism that speaks to the quiet moments of the human experience.

Michael Taylor Perretta (born December 10, 1976), known professionally as Evidence, is an American rapper and record producer from Venice, Los Angeles, California.
