Fight Bite

Fight Bite is a Denton, Texas-based duo consisting of Leanne Macomber and Jeff Louis, emerging during the late-2000s dream pop revival. Their sound identity is defined by a heavy reliance on vintage synth textures, tinny drum machines, and extreme reverb saturation that aligns them with the 'hypnagogic pop' and 'glo-fi' movements of the era.

Macomber, who also performed with Neon Indian, brought a more delicate, ethereal sensibility to this project compared to her louder rock roots. Their debut, Emerald Eyes (2008), received significant critical attention from influential blogs like Gorilla vs. Bear, positioning them alongside contemporaries like Beach House and early Wild Nothing. The project is characterized by a 'buried' mix where vocals act as textural elements rather than focal points, drawing comparisons to the 4AD roster of the early 90s, specifically This Mortal Coil and Mazzy Star. Despite a limited discography, their influence persists within the niche of 'bedroom dream pop' for their ability to evoke a specific sense of suburban isolation and romantic longing through minimalist electronic arrangements.
