Finger Eleven is a seminal Canadian alternative rock band that emerged from the post-grunge movement of the mid-1990s. Originally performing as the Rainbow Butt Monkeys, the band rebranded in 1997 to signal a shift toward a more serious, atmospheric sound.
Their early work, particularly the album 'Tip', showcased a heavy, introspective style influenced by the Seattle sound and progressive rock. However, they achieved global mainstream success by pivoting toward a more melodic and rhythmic approach. The 2003 single 'One Thing' established them as masters of the rock ballad, while 2007's 'Paralyzer' demonstrated a surprising and successful integration of funk and dance-punk elements into their hard rock foundation.
