Firma

Firma is a seminal Polish hip-hop collective formed in 2000 in Kraków, originally by Kali and Tadek. The group expanded to include Popek, Pomidor, and Bosski Roman, becoming one of the most influential and controversial entities in the Polish 'uliczny' (street) rap scene.

Their sound is characterized by hardcore boom-bap production, often utilizing dark, melancholic samples and aggressive drum patterns. They are most famous for popularizing the 'JP' movement, an anti-establishment subculture that resonated deeply with disenfranchised youth in post-communist housing projects. Throughout the 2000s, they evolved from 'illegal' underground releases to major independent success, despite a lack of mainstream media support. Their influence is visible in the careers of solo members like Popek (who transitioned into MMA and pop-rap) and Kali (who became a top-tier lyrical force). Critically, they are viewed as architects of the Polish street rap aesthetic, bridging the gap between 90s pioneers like WWO and the more aggressive, modern drill-adjacent styles of the 2010s.
