Fixions

Fixions is the project of a French producer based in Aix En Provence, emerging in 2012 during the initial surge of the synthwave revival. Unlike the sun-drenched 'outrun' style of contemporaries, Fixions leaned immediately into the 'darksynth' subgenre, characterized by a heavier, more aggressive approach influenced by horror soundtracks and industrial music.

The sound identity is built on a foundation of FM synthesis, bit-crushed textures, and high-tempo percussion that mimics the intensity of metal while remaining purely electronic. Throughout a prolific career spanning albums like Genocity and Dark Days, the artist has explored the intersection of cyberpunk literature and video game aesthetics, even contributing to official soundtracks like Cyborg Deadly Machine. Critically, Fixions is regarded as a pillar of the French darksynth scene alongside artists like Dan Terminus and GosT, praised for maintaining a sense of melodic narrative within otherwise abrasive sonic environments.
