Foesum

Foesum is a foundational pillar of the Long Beach G-funk scene, emerging from the same creative ecosystem that produced Snoop Dogg, Warren G, and Nate Dogg. Originally formed as a DJ crew called Perfection in 1986, the group evolved into a rap outfit consisting of T-Dubb, MNMsta, and DJ Glaze.

Their sound identity is defined by the 'G-funk' aesthetic: a fusion of gangsta rap lyricism with the melodic sensibilities of 1970s P-Funk and soul. This is achieved through the heavy use of Moog-style synth leads, live-sounding bass, and a polished, studio-heavy production style that emphasizes clarity and groove over grit. Their career arc is marked by a long gestation period; despite being early collaborators with Snoop Dogg (notably referenced in 'Nuthin' but a G Thang'), their debut album 'Perfection' did not arrive until 1996. This delay resulted in a sound that was incredibly refined, capturing the peak of the G-funk era's technical sophistication. Critically, they are viewed as 'the connoisseur's G-funk group,' often overshadowed by Death Row giants but deeply respected by crate-diggers and West Coast purists for their consistency and melodic depth.
