Forbidden Society

Forbidden Society is the primary alias of Czech producer Jindřich Brejcha, a pivotal figure in the evolution of darkstep and industrial drum and bass. Emerging from the digital hardcore and breakcore scenes under the name Noize Punishment, Brejcha transitioned to Forbidden Society in the mid-2000s, bringing a punk and metal-influenced aggression to the D&B template.

His sound is characterized by high-decibel production, heavy distortion, and a relentless focus on the 'darkside' aesthetic. He founded Forbidden Society Recordings in 2010, which became a central hub for the cross-pollination of hard electronic styles, hosting artists like Current Value and Counterstrike. Over time, his work has evolved from the chaotic breakcore of his youth toward a more streamlined, high-fidelity industrial D&B sound, often incorporating halftime and techno elements. He remains a staple of the European festival circuit, particularly at events like Let It Roll, and is widely respected for maintaining an uncompromisingly heavy sound while achieving professional, club-ready engineering standards.
