Frayle is a Cleveland-based duo consisting of vocalist Gwyn Strang and guitarist Sean Bilovecky, formed in 2017. They occupy a unique niche often described as 'doomgaze' or 'witch rock,' characterized by a stark contrast between heavy, stoner-influenced doom metal and ethereal, trip-hop-adjacent vocals.

Bilovecky, formerly of Disengage, brings a veteran's ear to the guitar work, utilizing complex layering and massive tone stacking to create a thick, immersive wall of sound. Strang’s vocal approach is the band's signature, eschewing traditional metal tropes for a breathy, intimate style influenced by Björk and Beth Gibbons. Their debut full-length, 1692, solidified their reputation for creating 'lullabies over chaos,' a sound that balances the crushing weight of Sleep with the moody textures of 90s Bristol electronica. Critically, they are praised for their ability to make doom metal feel vulnerable and feminine without sacrificing its inherent power.
