FreeTEMPO

FreeTEMPO is the solo project of Sendai-based DJ and producer Takeshi Hanzawa, a pivotal figure in the 2000s Japanese club scene. Emerging from the Shibuya-kei lineage but leaning more heavily into house and nu-jazz, Hanzawa gained international attention early on via the Italian label Irma Records.

His sound identity is built on a foundation of sophisticated 'Jazzy House' characterized by prominent, melodic piano work, lush string arrangements, and a high-fidelity production aesthetic that bridges the gap between lounge and dancefloor.
