Funkstörung, the German duo of Michael Fakesch and Chris de Luca, emerged in the mid-1990s as pivotal figures in the 'glitch' movement. Based in Rosenheim, they developed a signature sound characterized by extreme digital manipulation, micro-editing, and a unique 'surgical' approach to rhythm.

Their early work on labels like Musik Aus Strom and Compost Records helped define the aesthetic of IDM (Intelligent Dance Music) by blending the rhythmic foundations of hip-hop and electro with avant-garde digital processing. They gained significant critical acclaim for their remix work, famously reinterpreting artists like Björk and Wu-Tang Clan by completely deconstructing the source material into stuttering, bit-crushed soundscapes. Their career peaked commercially with the album 'Disconnected' (2004), which integrated more traditional songwriting and guest vocalists into their complex electronic frameworks. After a hiatus starting in 2006, they returned in 2015 with a self-titled album that updated their sound for the modern era.
