Haunting, electronic-tinged rock that feels like a whispered secret in a concrete room. Vulnerable vocals meet heavy, industrial textures for late-night catharsis.
GGGOLDDD creates a sound that is simultaneously massive and claustrophobic. It is music that feels like it was recorded in the dead of night, where the silence between the notes is just as heavy as the distorted guitars. Milena Eva’s vocals are the focal point, delivered with a breathy, deadpan intimacy that makes it feel like she is standing right next to you, even as the band erupts into walls of post-metal sound.
What sets them apart is their refusal to stick to the metal script. While they emerged from the heavy scene, their later work leans heavily into trip-hop rhythms and cold, darkwave electronics. It is 'heavy' in an emotional sense rather than a purely sonic one, using tension and release to explore themes of trauma and resilience with a surgical precision.
Start with 'This Shame Should Not Be Mine' to hear their most realized vision. It is a masterclass in how to blend electronic minimalism with the crushing weight of rock, providing a perfect entry point for fans of both Portishead and Amenra.
