Gone

Gone is the primary instrumental vehicle for Greg Ginn, the visionary guitarist and founder of Black Flag and SST Records. Formed in 1986 during the twilight of Black Flag, the band served as a bridge between the visceral energy of American hardcore and Ginn's increasing interest in free jazz and technical fusion.

The original lineup featured bassist Andrew Weiss and drummer Sim Cain, both of whom would later form the backbone of the Rollins Band, bringing a high level of technical proficiency to Ginn's atonal, often improvisational compositions. The group's sound is characterized by Ginn's signature 'warped' guitar tone and a rhythm section that incorporates elements of funk and math-rock before those terms were codified.
