Intro

Hey! Say! JUMP is the sonic equivalent of a neon-lit parade. Their music is characterized by an unrelenting optimism, featuring massive, multi-tracked vocal harmonies that create a 'wall of voices' effect. The production is unapologetically maximalist, often blending traditional idol pop structures with orchestral flourishes, funky basslines, and high-gloss electronic textures. It is music that refuses to be ignored, demanding movement and participation.

What sets them apart is the sheer scale of their sound. With so many members, the vocal arrangements move rapidly between solo lines, subgroup harmonies, and powerful unison choruses. This creates a dynamic, ever-shifting energy that feels like a theatrical performance. Their later work, particularly from the 2020s, has experimented with more sophisticated cinematic themes and concept-driven storytelling, moving beyond simple idol tropes into more nuanced pop territory.

Start with the album 'Fab! -Music speaks.-' to hear their most creative conceptual work, or dive into 'JUMPing CAR' for the quintessential, high-energy summer idol experience. If you want to understand their cultural impact, their early singles like 'Ultra Music Power' provide the blueprint for the modern J-pop boy band sound.

Hey! Say! JUMP (HSJ or JUMP) is a seven-member Japanese boy band under the Japanese talent agency Starto Entertainment (formerly known as Johnny & Associates). The group is split into two sub-groups: Hey! Say! BEST and Hey! Say! 7. In Japan they sold more than 10 million physical copies. Hey! Say! JUMP originally debuted with ten members, the largest group in Johnny's history. In 2011, Ryutaro Morimoto was indefinitely suspended from the group following an underage smoking scandal. On April 11, 2021, Keito Okamoto announced that he would be leaving the group in order to pursue an acting career but would be remaining under Johnny & Associates. On August 28, 2025 Yuto Nakajima announced he would graduate from the group.
