Holy Fawn

Ethereal forest-floor melodies that erupt into crushing walls of sound. A heavy, beautiful collision of shoegaze and post-metal for late-night introspection.

Intro

Holy Fawn creates music that feels like a living, breathing ecosystem. It is a world where delicate, whispered vocals and shimmering guitar textures coexist with sudden, tectonic shifts of crushing distortion and black-metal-inflected percussion. Their sound is often described as 'doomgaze,' a label that captures the slow-motion weight of their compositions and the dreamlike haze that blankets even their most aggressive moments.

What truly distinguishes the band is their commitment to the 'pretty' in 'loud heavy pretty noises.' Unlike many of their post-metal peers who lean into sterile aggression, Holy Fawn maintains a lush, organic warmth. They use electronic glitches and ambient field recordings to bridge the gap between their quietest acoustic-leaning passages and their most explosive crescendos, creating a sense of extradimensional space that feels both sacred and slightly dangerous.

For those new to the band, 'Death Spells' is the essential entry point. It perfectly balances their penchant for long-form atmospheric builds with immediate, visceral payoffs. It is the kind of record that demands full immersion, preferably through high-quality headphones in a dark room where the listener can track every subtle layer of feedback and every shift in the wind.

Holy Fawn is an American rock band from Phoenix, Arizona. The band currently consists of guitarist and vocalist Ryan Osterman and guitarist Evan Phelps, with bassist Alexander Rieth also being part of their lineup until 2023 and drummer Austin Reinholz until 2025. They have released two full-length studio albums and two extended plays.
