As the founder of the influential Dream Catalogue label, HKE used the Hong Kong Express moniker to establish a specific visual and sonic language centered on East Asian urbanism, late-night transit, and romantic isolation. The sound identity is defined by a 'murky' mix where vocals are buried and percussion is softened, prioritizing mood over rhythm. Critically, the project is viewed as a bridge between the internet-born vaporwave movement and more traditional ambient and IDM traditions. His collaboration with t e l e p a t h as 2814 further solidified this aesthetic, making Hong Kong Express a key architect of the 2010s internet underground.
