Igorrr

A manic collision of 18th-century baroque, blistering black metal, and hyper-edited breakcore. It is high-art chaos for listeners who find beauty in the extreme.

Intro

Imagine a 17th-century harpsichordist being abducted by a time-traveling glitch producer and a Swedish death metal band. The result is a dizzying, maximalist explosion where operatic vocals soar over machine-gun drum programming and delicate classical arrangements. It is music that refuses to sit still, constantly pivoting between the sublime and the grotesque with surgical precision.

What makes Igorrr truly distinctive is the lack of irony in the fusion. While the combinations sound absurd on paper, the execution is deeply earnest and technically flawless. Gautier Serre treats a chicken's cluck, a distorted 808 kick, and a professional soprano with the same level of compositional respect, weaving them into a tapestry that feels like a coherent, albeit frantic, universe.

Start with 'Savage Sinusoid' to hear the project at its most polished and realized. It serves as the perfect gateway into a world where the boundaries between the concert hall and the underground rave have been completely demolished.

Gautier Serre (born 5 June 1984), better known by his stage name Igorrr, is a French musician. Under the Igorrr alias, he combines a variety of disparate genres, including black metal, baroque music, breakcore, and trip hop, into a singular sound. Serre is also part of the now disbanded side-projects Whourkr and Corpo-Mente. The Igorrr project became a full band with the addition of vocalists Laure Le Prunenec and Laurent Lunoir, drummer Sylvain Bouvier, guitarist Martyn Clément and bassist Erlend Caspersen. In 2021, both vocalists left the band and were replaced with JB Le Bail and Aphrodite Patoulidou, who were later replaced by Marthe Alexandre. In 2024, Rémi Serafino took the position of the drummer.
