Polished, neon-soaked progressive metal that pairs heavy djent rhythms with lush electronic soundscapes. High-stakes melodies for late-night focus and deep thinking.
Ihlo sounds like the intersection of a high-end tech laboratory and a rainy urban alleyway. Their music is built on a foundation of precision-engineered metal riffs, but it is frequently submerged in layers of shimmering synthesizers and ambient textures that feel more like Boards of Canada than Black Sabbath. The result is a sound that is massive and crushing yet strangely fragile and beautiful at the same time.
What truly sets them apart is the vocal delivery of Andy Robison, whose clean, soaring tenor provides a human anchor to the complex, shifting time signatures. Unlike many of their peers who lean into aggression, Ihlo prioritizes emotional resonance and pop-sensible hooks, even when a song stretches past the ten-minute mark. The production is immaculately clean, allowing every glitchy electronic beat and palm-muted guitar chug to occupy its own distinct space.
Start with the album 'Union' to experience their foundational blend of melody and math, then move to 'Legacy' for a darker, more conceptually focused exploration of technology's weight. It is the perfect soundtrack for anyone who wants the complexity of progressive metal without sacrificing the atmospheric depth of electronic music.
