Impalers

Impalers (often referred to as The Impalers to distinguish from the Danish thrash band) emerged from the fertile Texas hardcore scene of the 2010s, specifically Austin. They represent a pivotal bridge in the 'crossover' revival, blending the technicality of thrash metal with the aesthetic and rhythmic foundations of d-beat and hardcore punk.

Their sound identity is built on 'blown-out' production, characterized by heavy tape saturation and a buzzsaw guitar tone reminiscent of Swedish death metal but applied to punk tempos. Throughout their career, they have maintained a strictly DIY ethos, releasing music through influential underground labels like 540 Records and Iron Lung. Critically, they are lauded for avoiding the 'retro' trap, instead creating a contemporary version of extreme music that feels vital and abrasive.
