In Slaughter Natives is the solo project of Swedish musician Jouni Havukainen, established in 1985. As a cornerstone of the legendary Cold Meat Industry label, ISN is credited with pioneering the 'martial industrial' and 'death industrial' genres.
The project's sound identity is defined by a sophisticated use of sampling, particularly orchestral and liturgical sources, which are layered with heavy, distorted percussion and cavernous reverb. Havukainen's work evolved from the raw, noise-oriented textures of the late 80s into the more refined, neoclassical-influenced 'sacred' industrial sound of the 90s.
