K3 is a Hungarian instrumental progressive metal trio founded in 1995 by guitarist Janos Kallai. While sharing a name with a famous Belgian pop group, the Hungarian K3 occupies a diametrically opposed sonic space, focusing on high-level technical execution and complex song structures.

Their sound is deeply rooted in the tradition of guitar virtuosos like Joe Satriani and Steve Vai, but filtered through the heavier, more aggressive lens of modern progressive metal. The band reached a critical high point with their 2007 album 'Under A Spell,' which featured a guest appearance by Dream Theater keyboardist Jordan Rudess, cementing their status in the international prog-metal community. Their work is characterized by a 'power trio' foundation augmented by sophisticated synth arrangements, emphasizing instrumental storytelling over vocal narratives.
