Kaseva

Lush vocal harmonies and jangling twelve-string guitars meet the quiet ache of the Finnish countryside. Timeless, melodic folk-pop for introspective afternoons.

Intro

Kaseva sounds like the golden hour of the 1970s captured on magnetic tape. Their music is built on a foundation of intricate acoustic guitar work and vocal harmonies so precise they feel like a single, multi-faceted instrument. There is a specific warmth here, an analog glow that softens the edges of their often melancholic songwriting. It is the sound of a band that spent years in a basement perfecting their craft before ever stepping into the light.

What sets them apart is the 'Manserock' soul filtered through a sophisticated, almost baroque pop lens. While their contemporaries were often leaning into gritty rock and roll or political folk, Kaseva looked toward the melodic complexity of The Beatles and Crosby, Stills, and Nash. They managed to translate that high-fidelity sunshine into something uniquely Finnish: a sound that is deeply melodic yet carries a persistent, gentle weight of sorrow.

Start with their debut, 'Silloin kun'. It perfectly encapsulates their ability to turn simple pop structures into something grand and emotionally resonant. The track 'Tyhjää' is an essential entry point, showcasing the vocal interplay and twelve-string textures that made them legends in their home country.

Kaseva is a Finnish pop rock band from Tampere, Finland. Kaseva is well known from its beautiful melodies, harmony singing and playing 12 string guitars, and combining many styles of music and instruments. In the Finnish newspapers they were some times called "Finland's Lennon and McCartney". Kaseva have had some of their inspiration from the music of The Beatles, yet Kaseva has its own unique sound and style. The name Kaseva comes from the book of the epic poems, Kalevala, and it means handy.
