Killing Me Inside

Killing Me Inside stands as a foundational pillar of the Indonesian post-hardcore and emo scene. Formed in 2006 in South Jakarta, the band became a bridge between the aggressive underground screamo movements and the mainstream alternative rock charts in Indonesia.

Their early work, featuring original vocalist Sansan, leaned heavily into the 'Scenecore' aesthetic of the era, characterized by technical guitar work and a balance of clean and harsh vocals. Following Sansan's departure, the transition of Onadio Leonardo from bass to lead vocals marked a shift toward a more melodic, pop-influenced sound that saw them achieve significant commercial success with hits like 'Biarlah'. Their career has been defined by frequent lineup changes, yet they have maintained a consistent identity centered on emotional transparency and high-energy performance. Critically, they are viewed as pioneers who localized the Western emo-pop sound for a massive Indonesian audience, influencing a generation of local bands to embrace the 'emocore' label. They occupy a unique cultural space where they are equally at home at massive rock festivals like Java Rockin’ Land and in the playlists of heartbroken teenagers.
