Gritty, street-level metal that feels like a documentary of urban decay. Intense spoken-word narratives meet explosive, low-tuned aggression for a heavy, cinematic burn.
Listening to King 810 feels like being dropped into the middle of a cold, grey Michigan winter with no coat and a lot of questions. The music is heavy, but not just in the sonic sense; it carries a weight of lived experience and localized trauma that makes it feel more like a testimony than a performance. It is the sound of concrete, rust, and survival, delivered with a rhythmic intensity that borders on the claustrophobic.
What truly sets them apart is David Gunn's vocal delivery, which frequently shifts from a menacing, gravelly whisper to a full-throated roar. They incorporate elements of noir-style storytelling and industrial soundscapes that you do not typically find in standard metalcore. It is theatrical in its violence but grounded in a very real sense of place, using the area code of Flint as a foundational identity that informs every note and lyric.
Start with 'Memoirs of a Murderer' to understand the blueprint of their sound. It perfectly captures the transition between their aggressive hardcore roots and the more experimental, narrative-driven metal they have pioneered. It is music for when you need to feel the raw edge of reality, or when you want a soundtrack that matches the intensity of a high-stakes moment.
