Bright, orchestral indie rock with soaring male-female harmonies and rich cello textures. Energetic anthems for long drives and sun-drenched afternoons.
Kopecky delivers a sound that feels like a collective exhale. It is music built on the chemistry of a large ensemble, where traditional rock instruments share the stage with cellos, lap steel, and horns. The result is a lush, widescreen version of indie rock that manages to be both intimate and anthemic. There is a palpable sense of camaraderie in the way the instruments interlock, creating a rich tapestry that never feels cluttered.
What truly sets them apart is the vocal interplay between Kelsey Kopecky and Gabe Simon. Their voices do not just harmonize; they dance around each other, trading leads and merging into powerful unisons that drive the emotional peaks of their songs. This vocal dynamic, combined with the orchestral flourishes of the cello and brass, gives their music a 'chamber pop' sophistication while maintaining the raw energy of a Nashville garage band.
Start with 'Kids Raising Kids' to hear them at their most infectious and communal. It captures the spirit of a group of friends making noise together, blending pop sensibilities with surprising structural depth. It is the perfect entry point for anyone who loves big, melodic indie rock with a sophisticated instrumental backbone.
