Kraddy

Kraddy (Matthew Kratz) is a foundational figure in the American glitch-hop movement, most notably as a founding member of the influential collective The Glitch Mob. Emerging from the San Francisco electronic scene in the early 2000s, he transitioned from traditional breakbeat and hip-hop production to a more radical, digitally-mangled aesthetic.

His 2008 track 'Android Porn' is widely credited with codifying the 'glitch-hop' sound, characterized by mid-tempo half-time grooves, aggressive bass synthesis, and intricate 'stutter' editing. His career arc moved from underground vinyl releases to mainstream visibility, with his music appearing in major television programs and dance competitions. Critically, he is viewed as a bridge between the IDM-leaning glitch of the late 90s and the more populist, high-energy 'EDM' explosion of the 2010s. His influence is visible in the work of artists like OPIUO and CloZee, who expanded on his fusion of organic rhythms and digital distortion.
