Intro

Kristiina Brask captures the specific sparkle of late-2000s Finnish pop, where high-gloss production meets a distinctively Nordic sense of longing. Her music is built on a foundation of driving electronic rhythms and layered synthesizers that feel both expansive and intimate. It is the sound of a young artist finding her voice within the machinery of the pop industry, resulting in tracks that are impeccably polished yet emotionally resonant.

What sets her apart is the crystalline clarity of her Finnish delivery. Even in her most upbeat dance-pop moments, there is a subtle undercurrent of minor-key melancholy that is characteristic of the Suomi-pop tradition. The production is maximalist but never cluttered, using sharp digital textures to frame her soprano range. It is music that feels designed for movement, whether that is on a dancefloor or through a changing landscape.

Start with her debut album, Silmät sydämeeni, to hear the quintessential sound of her breakthrough era. It perfectly balances radio-friendly hooks with the earnest energy of a newcomer. For a more mature take on her synth-pop leanings, her second album Kuivilla susta offers tighter arrangements and more confident vocal performances.

Kristiina Maria Brask (born 2 June 1990) is a Finnish pop singer. She was a finalist in the third season of Idols in 2007. She was placed third after Ari Koivunen and Anna Abreu. Soon after Idols participation, Kristiina made a recording contract with Helsinki Music Company. Her debut album, Silmät sydämeeni, was released in November 2007. It has sold more than 15 000 copies (gold). Four singles, "Nyt mä meen", "Silmät sydämeeni", "Pilvet valmiina" and "Liian kaukana", have been released. Brask's second album, called Kuivilla susta, was released on 9 September 2009. In addition to music, Brask loves ice hockey. She comes from Sorsakoski, Leppävirta, and studies in a music-based high school in Kuopio.
