Formed in 1989 in Mexico City, La Castañeda emerged as one of the most conceptually ambitious bands of the Rock en tu Idioma movement. Named after Mexico's most infamous psychiatric hospital, the band utilized the asylum as a central metaphor for social and psychological alienation.
