Landser

Landser was a German neo-Nazi rock band formed in 1992 in East Berlin, emerging from the 'Die Vandalen' subculture. Originally named Endlösung, the group became the most influential entity in the 'Rock Against Communism' (RAC) scene in post-reunification Germany.

Their sound is a derivative of British Oi! and 80s hardcore punk, characterized by simple power chords and aggressive, nationalist lyrics. The band operated almost entirely underground to evade German 'Volksverhetzung' (incitement to hatred) laws, recording their albums in secret and manufacturing them abroad in countries like the United States and Sweden. In a landmark 2005 ruling, the German Federal Court of Justice declared Landser a criminal organization, leading to the imprisonment of lead singer Michael 'Lunikoff' Regener. This legal precedent was the first time a musical group was outlawed as a criminal entity in Germany. Their influence remains significant within far-right circles, where they are viewed as martyrs of the scene.
