Late Night Alumni

Late Night Alumni formed in 2003 as a collaborative project between Ryan Raddon (better known as the superstar DJ Kaskade), Finn Bjarnson, John Hancock, and vocalist Becky Jean Williams. While Kaskade is often associated with high-energy mainstage house, Late Night Alumni serves as his outlet for more nuanced, downtempo, and organic explorations.

The group's sound identity is built on the contrast between electronic sequencing and live instrumentation, specifically strings and acoustic guitars, which provides a 'chamber house' quality rare in the mid-2000s electronic scene. Their debut album, Empty Streets, became a seminal work in the lounge and chillout genres, with the title track achieving significant underground and commercial success. Critically, the group is praised for maintaining a high production standard that bridges the gap between the Hed Kandi-era lounge sound and contemporary deep house. Their evolution has seen them incorporate more synth-pop and dream-pop elements while retaining the signature breathy vocal delivery of Williams.
