Sleek, noir-tinged indie pop with a soulful ache. Minimalist electronic beats meet rich, breathy vocals for late-night introspection and rainy city commutes.
Laura Welsh creates a sound that feels like the intersection of a high-end fashion film and a deeply personal diary entry. Her music is defined by a sophisticated, 'noir' pop aesthetic where every synth swell and drum snap is placed with surgical precision. It is moody, atmospheric, and undeniably sleek, carrying a weight that feels both modern and timelessly soulful.
What truly sets her apart is the way she balances the coldness of electronic production with the warmth of her vocal delivery. Influenced by R&B but rooted in the UK indie scene, she utilizes space as an instrument, allowing her breathy, layered harmonies to float over sparse, skeletal arrangements. There is a persistent sense of tension and release, like a storm that never quite breaks.
Start with 'Cold Front' to hear her signature blend of icy synths and soulful longing, or dive into 'Undiscovered' for a more cinematic, orchestral take on her sound. Her debut album, Soft Control, remains the definitive statement of her ability to turn heartbreak into something polished and powerful.
