Lowen

Lowen is a London-based progressive doom metal entity formed in 2017, primarily driven by the creative partnership of Nina Saeidi and Shem Lucas. The band occupies a unique niche within the 'Middle Eastern Doom' sub-movement, distinguished by their authentic integration of Iranian cultural heritage and Farsi lyrics.

Unlike many Western bands that use 'oriental' scales as a superficial aesthetic, Lowen's sound is built on the foundational structures of Persian music, utilizing quarter-tones and traditional vocal ornamentation. Their career arc shows a steady evolution from the more straightforward doom of 'A Crypt in the Stars' (2018) toward the highly complex, conceptually dense 'Do Not Go to War With the Demons of Mazandaran' (2024).
