Intro

Magic System sounds like a permanent summer holiday. Their music is a high-gloss fusion of traditional Ivorian Zouglou rhythms and the polished, anthemic sensibilities of European dance-pop. It is characterized by bright, shimmering synthesizers, driving percussion that demands movement, and vocal performances that feel like a collective celebration. Every track is engineered for maximum uplift, utilizing stadium-sized hooks that are impossible not to hum along to.

What truly sets them apart is the 'four magicians' vocal dynamic. Instead of a single lead star, the group relies on interlocking harmonies and call-and-response chants that create a sense of community and shared joy. Their production often bridges the gap between Abidjan and Paris, blending organic African polyrhythms with the heavy, compressed low-end of modern club music. It is music that refuses to acknowledge cynicism, opting instead for relentless optimism.

To understand their impact, start with 'Premier Gaou' to hear the raw energy that first ignited the African continent, then move to 'Magic in the Air' for the pinnacle of their global stadium-pop era. It is the perfect soundtrack for any moment that requires an immediate injection of adrenaline and collective happiness.

Magic System is an Ivorian zouglou and coupé-décalé music group, formed in 1996 in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. When it was created, the group was composed of friends, the best known of whom today are A'Salfo, Goude, Tino and Manadja. The sounds drawn from zouglou ignited the African scene for more than a decade. Their songs are also used to denounce unhappiness and all forms of abuse in Ivorian society. They developed a reputation for high-energy live shows. However, dissensions arose within the group, which led to a break up and give birth to the group as it is known today as the four "magicians". The music group is famous for its performance of festive theme songs, their biggest hits are the singles "Premier Gaou" (2002), "Un gaou à Oran" (2004), "Bouger Bouger" (2005), "C cho ça brûle" (2006), "Zouglou Dance" (2007), "Même pas fatigué !!!" (2009), "Ambiance à l'africaine" (2011), "Chérie coco" (2011) and "Magic in the Air" (2014). In 2024, their song, "Akwaba" was chosen as the anthem for the soccer tournament La Coupe d'Afrique des Nations and also won Manie Musicale.
