Intro

Marc et Claude represent the golden era of European trance, where melodic accessibility met high-energy production. Their sound is defined by shimmering synth textures, driving percussion, and a relentless sense of optimism. It is music that feels like a physical manifestation of a summer holiday, designed to fill massive spaces with light and movement.

What sets them apart is their ability to blend the harder edges of German trance with pop-leaning vocal sensibilities. While their peers often leaned into darker or more technical territory, Marc et Claude focused on the emotional payoff of the breakdown and the subsequent euphoric release. Their use of familiar samples reimagined through a club lens created a bridge between radio-friendly melodies and underground energy.

Start with 'I Need Your Lovin' (Like the Sunshine)' to understand their mastery of the summer anthem. From there, explore their debut album 'Feel You' to hear how they sustain that high-gloss, high-emotion energy across a full-length project. It is essential listening for anyone who misses the neon-soaked optimism of the turn-of-the-millennium dance floor.

Marc et Claude were a German electro-trance music duo consisting of Marc Romboy and Klaus Derichs. The two also co-own the label Alphabet City, which houses such artists as Ferry Corsten and Future Breeze. The two started producing seriously during the explosion of German trance in the mid-to-late 1990s. Their first release, "Toulouse" was on their own label, Le Petit Prince Records. In 1997, the duo teamed up with Jürgen Driessen and produced the track "La" which went to the top of the German dance charts and helped them crossover to UK audiences. They had several UK top 40 hits during the late 1990s and early 2000s, including their biggest hit "I Need Your Lovin' (Like the Sunshine)" (#12) which samples the Korgis' "Everybody's Got to Learn Sometime" which served as a dedication to their summer tour, affiliated with the island of Ibiza.
