Luminous Colombian folk that feels like a warm breeze through an open window. Intimate, jazz-inflected songs for quiet mornings and thoughtful reflection.
Marta Gómez creates music that feels like a sanctuary. Her sound is a masterclass in restraint, blending the rhythmic DNA of Latin America - cumbias, bambucos, and zambas - with the sophisticated harmonic language of jazz. It is music that breathes, characterized by high-fidelity recordings that place her gentle, clear vocals right in the room with you. There is a profound sense of peace in her arrangements, which often favor acoustic guitars, upright bass, and subtle, earthy percussion.
What sets her apart is her ability to bridge the gap between traditional folk roots and contemporary singer-songwriter sensibilities. Her work is deeply literary, often drawing inspiration from South American authors or addressing social themes with a soft-spoken but firm moral clarity. She avoids the high-energy bombast of commercial Latin pop in favor of a crystalline, audiophile-grade intimacy that highlights the natural resonance of her instruments.
Start with 'Entre cada palabra' for a perfect introduction to her jazz-folk fusion. If you are looking for something more thematic, 'Coloreando' showcases her Grammy-winning ability to breathe new life into traditional songs with a timeless, universal appeal. It is the ideal soundtrack for moments that require a calm heart and a focused mind.
