Mauro Picotto

High-octane Italian techno that bridges the gap between euphoric trance melodies and industrial-strength percussion. Built for the world's largest dance floors.

Intro

Mauro Picotto's music is the sonic equivalent of a high-speed chase through a futuristic city. It is characterized by a relentless, driving energy that fuses the structural precision of techno with the emotional peaks of trance. His signature sound often features sharp, metallic synth lines and heavy, compressed percussion that commands movement. There is a distinct 'reptilian' sleekness to his most famous tracks, where the rhythms feel coiled and ready to strike.

What truly sets Picotto apart is his ability to transition from the maximalist, anthem-heavy sounds of the late 90s into a more sophisticated, funky minimal style without losing his trademark intensity. His production is impeccably clean, designed specifically for massive sound systems where every kick drum needs to be felt in the chest. He balances cold, industrial textures with sudden bursts of operatic or melodic warmth, creating a tension that defines the 'Meganite' lifestyle.

For those new to his catalog, starting with the 'Lizard', 'Iguana', and 'Komodo' trilogy is essential to understand his peak-time influence. From there, explore his later work like 'Evribadi' to hear how he evolved into a more percussive, tech-focused artist. It is music for the moments when you want to disappear into a crowd and let the rhythm take over completely.

Mauro Picotto (born 25 December 1966) is an Italian electronic music producer and DJ, and previously a member of the Italian Euro house group "R.A.F.". He became well known as a solo artist with songs including "Komodo (Save a Soul)", "Pulsar", "Iguana", and "Lizard". He has collaborated with other electronica/trance musicians such as Tiësto and Mario Più. He now promotes his own club night, Meganite (named after an early 21st-century track of his), which has run for consecutive years annually since 2004 at Privilege Ibiza. He now produces under his own record label, Bakerloo.
