Metro Area sounds like the intersection of a high-end design studio and a 1982 basement club in New Jersey. It is music defined by what it leaves out: the arrangements are sparse, the percussion is dry and punchy, and the synthesizers glow with a specific, expensive-sounding analog warmth.
