Modul

Modul is a Russian electronic collective, primarily associated with the Krasnodar scene, that emerged in the mid-2000s as a sophisticated voice in the global IDM and minimal techno landscape. Founded by Evgeny Shchukin, Alexander Tochilkin, and Evgeny Fomin, the group quickly gained international recognition through releases on prestigious labels such as Harthouse, Level Records, and Pro-Tez.

Their sound identity is built on a foundation of 'clicks and cuts' aesthetics, heavily influenced by the Raster-Noton and Kompakt schools of electronic music, but infused with a melodic sensibility that leans toward the melancholic. Shchukin, the primary architect of their sound, often explores the boundaries between functional dance music and abstract sound art. The group's evolution saw them move from early experimental glitch toward a more polished, 'tuneful' IDM style.
