Mystik

Mystik was a seminal but commercially overlooked power/thrash metal outfit hailing from Cleveland, Ohio. Formed in the late 1980s, they occupied a unique stylistic intersection, blending the technical proficiency of US Power Metal (USPM) with the aggressive rhythmic foundations of the thrash scene.

Their 1992 debut, 'The Plot Sickens,' released via Massacre Records, established a reputation for complex arrangements and high-register vocal intensity. By 1994's 'Perpetual Being,' the band shifted toward a leaner, faster speed metal sound, reflecting the hardening textures of the mid-90s underground. Despite critical acclaim within niche circles, the band fell victim to the fragmented nature of the metal market during the rise of alternative rock and groove metal. They remain a 'cult' favorite for collectors of 90s Massacre Records releases and fans of the 'Cleveland Sound,' characterized by a refusal to sacrifice melody for aggression.
