High-gloss futurepop that balances club-ready energy with deep, melancholic melodies. Polished synths and baritone vocals for the late-night electronic soul.
NamNamBulu occupies the sweet spot where the dance floor meets the diary. Their sound is defined by shimmering, high-definition synthesizers that feel both futuristic and deeply nostalgic. It is music that moves the body with driving EBM rhythms while simultaneously tugging at the heart with sweeping, minor-key melodies that evoke a sense of longing and digital isolation.
What truly sets them apart is the interplay between Vasi Vallis's meticulous, trance-influenced production and Henrik Iversen's grounded, emotive vocals. Unlike many of their contemporaries who rely on distorted or aggressive delivery, NamNamBulu favors clarity and melodic resonance. The result is a sound that feels expensive and expansive, like a high-budget sci-fi film score repurposed for an underground club.
For those new to the band, Distances is the essential entry point. It captures the peak of the 2000s futurepop movement, offering tracks that are equally effective as solitary headphone experiences or peak-hour club anthems. It is the sound of the early millennium's digital optimism clashing with timeless human heartbreak.
NamNamBulu is a German synthpop/futurepop band, consisting of Henrik Iversen (lyrics and vocals) and Vasi Vallis (songwriting and arrangement). Their 2005 release Alone reached #53 on the Deutsche Alternative Charts. The band split up in June 2005. NamNamBulu reunited in 2013 for 10-year anniversary tour, including dates at Wave-Gotik-Treffen (after 2004). The band is located in Switzerland/Germany. Vasi Vallis, born in Greece, is responsible for all aspects of composing and arranging the songs and producing remixes: from the first idea, arrangement and production, to the end result. Vasi also does the "NamNamBulu" remixes for other bands. Henrik Iversen (Norwegian/Danish) is singer and lyricist. He is also the main performer on stage.
