Gritty, high-gloss dance-pop with a rebellious edge. Electronic anthems for late-night defiance and neon-lit escapism.
Neon Hitch sounds like the intersection of a high-fashion runway and a traveling circus. Her music is built on a foundation of heavy, club-ready electronic beats, but it is elevated by a vocal style that is simultaneously breathy, raspy, and piercingly clear. There is a palpable sense of movement in her tracks, likely a byproduct of her upbringing as a fire dancer and trapeze artist, giving the pop structures a restless, kinetic energy.
What sets her apart is the 'anarchy' she brings to the polished world of 2010s electropop. While her peers might lean into pure bubblegum, Hitch injects a bohemian, street-smart grit into her work. Her lyrics often balance between hedonistic celebration and the sharp sting of heartbreak, delivered with a British sass that feels authentic rather than manufactured. The production is often dense and shimmering, utilizing aggressive synths and sharp drum programming.
Start with the '301 to Paradise' mixtape or the hit 'F**k U Betta' to get a sense of her club-oriented power. For those who prefer a more atmospheric, slightly more experimental side of her pop sensibilities, the 'Happy Neon' EP showcases her ability to blend electronic textures with more vulnerable, melodic songwriting.
Neon Hitch (born 25 May 1986) is an English singer and songwriter. She was signed to Mike Skinner and Ted Mayhem's label, The Beats, before it closed down. She was later discovered on MySpace by Benny Blanco, who flew her to New York City to work with him. Their work together earned her a music publishing deal with EMI and a record deal with Warner Bros. Records. Neon's debut album, Anarchy, was released on 22 July 2016 via WeRNeon.
