Neon Zoo

Neon Zoo is the creative vehicle for UK-based producer and multi-instrumentalist Rik Alexander. Emerging in the mid-2000s, the project carved out a niche within the darkwave and melodic industrial scenes by integrating traditional rock elements - specifically bluesy guitar work - into a synth-driven framework.

Their sound identity is defined by a 'velvety' vocal delivery and a mid-tempo, nocturnal aesthetic that bridges the gap between the 1980s gothic rock of The Sisters of Mercy and the 1990s trip-hop of Bristol. Critically, Neon Zoo is noted for its charismatic songwriting and ability to maintain a 'sexy' undertone within the often-austere industrial genre. The project's evolution saw a shift from the more rock-oriented 'Heaven Sin' (2005) toward the more electronic and conceptually dense 'O' (2012).
