Night Club

Night Club is a Los Angeles-based electronic duo consisting of vocalist Emily Kavanaugh and producer Mark Brooks. Since their formation in 2011, they have carved out a specific niche within the darkwave and synth-pop revival, moving away from the nostalgic '80s tropes of synthwave toward a more aggressive, industrial-influenced pop sound.

Brooks, a veteran of the underground scene with projects like Warlock Pinchers, brings a gritty, rhythmic sensibility to the production, while Kavanaugh’s lineage (daughter of Southside Johnny keyboardist Kevin Kavanaugh) informs the project's strong melodic sensibilities. Their work is characterized by a high-contrast mix of heavy sawtooth bass and airy, ethereal vocals. Critically, they are often noted for their ability to bridge the gap between accessible pop structures and the darker aesthetics of the goth/industrial subculture. Their cultural footprint includes significant work in television scoring, notably for the animated series Moonbeam City, which further cemented their association with neon-noir aesthetics.
