Noiseworks

Noiseworks emerged from the fertile Sydney rock scene of the mid-1980s, quickly establishing themselves as a premier force in Australian hard rock. Led by the charismatic New Zealand-born vocalist Jon Stevens, the band's sound was a sophisticated evolution of the 'pub rock' tradition, incorporating elements of soul, pop-rock, and contemporary production.

Their 1987 debut was a massive commercial success, yielding multiple Top 10 singles and setting a high bar for their subsequent work. The band's trajectory was marked by a shift toward more complex arrangements on 'Touch' and 'Love Versus Money', though they never lost their core identity of high-energy, guitar-driven rock. After disbanding in 1992, Stevens famously fronted INXS for a period, further cementing his status as one of the region's most respected vocalists. The band's 2022 return with 'Evolution' demonstrated a remarkable preservation of their signature grit and melodic power, proving their lasting relevance in the Australian rock canon. Critically, they are remembered for bridging the gap between the raw energy of early 80s rock and the more polished, radio-friendly sounds of the early 90s.
