Noxagt

Noxagt is a seminal Norwegian noise rock entity formed in 1999 by Kjetil Brandsdal. Originally a solo project, it evolved into a power trio that became a cornerstone of the international noise and avant-rock scene, particularly through their association with the influential Load Records.

Their sound identity is defined by a 'low-end' philosophy, utilizing heavily distorted bass and, in their most celebrated era, an amplified viola that functioned more like a lead noise generator than a melodic instrument. This unconventional instrumentation allowed them to bridge the gap between sludge metal, industrial, and free-form noise. The band's career arc is marked by a shift from the eerie, string-heavy textures of the early 2000s to a more traditional but no less abrasive guitar-bass-drums format in later years.
